Comment:

 Heads up: I've moved this ticket to a high priority. Why? The bug was
 introduced during the 6.4 cycle and has the potential to be problematic
 for users. IMO this bug needs to be fixed for 6.4, if the root cause can
 be found.

 Have pinging folks here and in Make/Core `#core` and `#core-editor`
 channels. Will closely monitor its progress.
