 For what it's worth, I'm experiencing the same issue. I tried switching to
 executing the cron jobs through the system cron every 5 minutes and
 setting {{{define( 'DISABLE_WP_CRON', true );}}} in {{{wp-config.php}}}.
 It didn't seem to do anything to the issue.

 My site isn't "high traffic". I run on AWS Aurora and cache (page, object,
 database, fragment, browser) with W3 total Cache.
