 @dd32 I've prepared https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-
 develop/pull/4640 to rename `wp_get_remote_patterns` to
 `wp_get_theme_directory_pattern_slugs`.

 The new name avoids using `remote` and is more explicit about what it
 does.

 Probably, I won't be available until mid/end of week. If the name
 suggestion addresses your concerns, please, be welcome to commit yourself.
 Otherwise, I will when I come back.
