Comment:

 There are a variety of open dependency issues there already, that have
 been open since months without anything done about them.

 This is exactly one of the issues that Gutenberg via the github issue
 tracker seems to be an afterthought in the WP release process.

 projects to do so as well.

 It is, but it reports tons of errors, especially when also using the
 @types packages in some cases or even worse bundles react itself (e.g.
 @types/wordpress__media-utils)

 Some packages (e.g. reakit) hasn't been updated in 2 years, since they
 renamed to ariakit. Those dependencies should all be thrown out, as
 apparently they're not used when nobody realized the whole reakit project
 changed 2 years ago...
