 Thanks for the ping @peterwilsoncc!

 Agreed, there's no need for us to rush this so close to RC when the
 Version is `2.1`, the ticket was created several cycles ago, and ideas
 still need feedback and consensus.

 The ticket has moved forward this cycle - let's get it to resolution in
 6.3.
