 I implemented another PR https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-
 develop/pull/4342 just for testing purposes which also includes the fixes
 needed on the Gutenberg side to make this all work correctly, which will
 also fix #58027.

 Also see the Gutenberg PR
 https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/49904 that includes the same
 changes, as they will need to be actually implemented in Gutenberg and
 then ported over to WordPress core.
