 Thanks for this information, @blauweb. I've attached an original and
 example corrupted image from your site to this ticket.

 However, in local testing I was unable to reproduce this issue in 6.1.1 or
 against trunk 😔. The same original image scaled without a problem in my
 environment.

 To help rule out environment configuration issues, on your site, would you
 mind heading to ''Tools > Site Health > Info tab > Media Handling'' and
 providing a summary of this info? E.g. here's the info from my dev site:
