 I dived a bit into this and I'm not sure I'm able to make the left / right
 paddings look the same on webkit and gecko. Seems to me this small
 difference is visible also on the examples mentioned above.

 There's some small extra padding in Firefox that appears to come from some
 internal Firefox rendering. Will commit last patch because it is an
 improvement. Padding can be always iterated later if a solution gets
 identified.
