 Thanks for the context @afercia. I have tested and got it working now,
 super weird but glad it's working after a fresh svn up, I had done grunt
 build so assume caught a bad build.

 For those following along what I see now is:

 Based on that I have a few iterations, I am not sure the side menu one is
 ideal from usability or a11y but adding incase. For me having menu on a
 new line does help some visual issues.

 cc @melchoyce for a second design input here. Likely we do need styling
 for this but for now focusing on placing as styling can happen after beta
