 @audrasjb As far as I know, you should be able to set the cropped image
 alt text (and other options) in [https://wordpress.org/support/article
 /media-library-screen/#media-library-list-view list view of media
 library]. Cropped images are available only there, but I actually
 [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/46127 logged a ticket] for this
 behavior too.
