 @spacedmonkey thank you for checking, I wasn't sure either and was mostly
 asking because of past experience sorting strings. i agree, based on how
 we store the _gmt fields this should work as expected. my main point was
 that converting these strings to timestamps would increase my confidence
 that the sorting will always work correctly. additional tests would as
 well! if the tests could demonstrate the original point of this ticket:
 **that all category feeds don't have the same date**, that would be even
 better!
