 Quick question, does this problem affect utf8mb3 or latin1? I'm looking at
 this doc https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/charset-unicode-
 conversion.html, I can infer that utf8mb3 is fine, thus latin1 is fine as
 well.
