 Ah, okay I see where you're going. The problem there is the reverse is
 also true.

 For example...

 1) Many times the plugin users have installed is already the rare plugin.
 Your proposal would make it harder to find them (say they're on page 2)
 and their features.

 2) The odds are a plugin that is one-use specific to the search query will
 rank first. Because of the 'click first' conundrum, people would continue
 to install more and more plugins to solve a problem they've already got an
 answer to.

 I think either way, you're going to have this problem, so the question
 boils down to this: Which is more important: highlighting the plugins you
 have or finding more plugins you don't?

 Honestly, give me a beer and I can argue both sides of this. BUT. It's
 pretty clear the way we have been doing it (showing them inline) is
 resulting in people installing a larger amount of plugins than may be
 needed, which increases the potential for plugin/theme conflicts.

 (I don't buy into the 'too many plugins is always bad!' mythos)
