 Does the release of the updated icon font have to wait for a new release?
 Keep in mind I'm still relatively new to Dashicons, so forgive me if that
 was an obvious question.

 You could do something like this:

 used on P2s, you could paste the CSS into the custom CSS pane and utilize
 it as a class.
