Comment:

 I'm slightly confused as to the direction of this ticket, sorry. I've had
 a quick skim through the recent discussion here but how come the original
 patch that was suggested is no longer valid here? The original direction
 is to add a filter and it seems it's shifted into wrapper classes for a
 different purpose?
