Comment:

 I don't love the name `date_floating`, but I don't see another way around
 the problem at this point. My preferred naming would denote its boolean
 nature (and it would be explicitly defined a read-only field too).

 Filing against WordPress 5.0 milestone because we need to sort this out
 one way or another by then.
