Comment:

 A patch has been added on #41610 which implements a saved indicator by
 simply disabling the Save button. When a widget is first added or an
 existing widget is opened, the Save button is initially disabled. Upon
 making change to field, the button is then enabled until the button is
 clicked and the Ajax request returns successfully. See
