Comment:

 I think this ticket needs some traction.

 There is no reason, IMHO anyway, that this shouldn't be added to core and
 the bundled themes. Once there, any child themes from them would have it
 and I don't think it would be too much of a stretch to have `wp_body_open`
 added to
 https://make.wordpress.org/themes/handbook/review/required/#templates

 The arguments against seem to be rooted in the issue of telling people to
 use it - that seems rather silly considering core adds new functionality
 all the time. Just add it to the release notes and if people want to use
 it they will.

 This is a case of users asking for something that has a real-world,
 potentially revenue impacting ( in the case of Google DFP ) use case and I
 don't see any downside of adding it in.
