Comment:

 The Galley widget is just re-using the same gallery that is added to
 posts. There is no lightbox option available for galleries in posts, so
 there is no gallery option available for the Gallery widget. Jetpack has a
 [https://jetpack.com/support/carousel/ Carousel module] which adds
 lightboxes for galleries whether they are in the post content or in a
 widget, so I suggest using that. I don't know about the suitability of
 adding lightbox support for galleries in core.
