 This is similar to that, however, in my case - I'm looking to use the
 image independent of linking to the PDF

 So for example using the image as a Feature image in a post.

 I will link to the PDF as well within the post, but the featured image is
 just that the image

 as I read #39618 this is moreso that they want to insert a link to the PDF
 and have the system grab the thumbnail for the link

 What I'm pretty much looking for is when it creates the image, for a an
 additional record to be added to the post & postmeta tables so that it
 will show in the Media Manager
