 Hi @jnickelberry,

 Thanks for reporting this issue, and sorry for the delay in getting a
 response. Many themes create a custom `post_thumbnail` size which is
 different than the `thumbnail` image size that the edit screen refers to.
 Following the steps you provided, I see that the `thumbnail` size is
 cropped, but the `post_thumbnail` size is not, which is expected behavior.

 If I've misunderstood, please feel free to reopen and include any new
 details required to reproduce the issue.
