 Would it be possible to share those discussions publicly? From a technical
 perspective, I can't think of any hurdle to bundling this with
 TwentySeventeen and later refactoring it for core inclusion.

 (For what it's worth, I feel the same way about limiting Page Sections to
 Child Pages. You seem confident that there's been some kind of consensus
 against this approach, but as far as I can tell there's been no discussion
 of the pros and cons of limiting the current selection control to Child
 Pages. Maybe it's not the answer we're looking for. But why?)
