 [attachment:37974.2.diff] adds support for `front_page_sections` to
 `WP_Query`, so that sections now show on the front page, and live-ish
 previews happen.

 @bradyvercher: I quite like the direction you went with redirecting
 permalinks, it's a neat solution with forwards and backwards
 compatibility.

 I think it's worth investigating having `http://example.com/about/`
 redirected to `http://example.com/#about`, rather than `#post-65`. This is
 a bit trickier, of course, but much nicer.
