 Well then, here's what I got (no, I don't get to go home.  I work FROM
 home. :P)
 Host: 1and1.com
 Example image: (the one I was trying was a little over 300k and it was
 much taller than wide. I don't want to upload it here, though).
 memory_limit: 120M
 max_execution_time:50000
 max_input_time: -1
 upload_max_filesize: 40M
 post_max_size: 8M

 I ran all kinds of code to find the Imagick/ImageMagick version, and it
 kept telling me it didn't know what I was talking about. :-/

 At any rate, the support guy at 1and1 was not helpful, but my husband, who
 is a web developer and finally got home, seemed to know more about what's
 up, because he was giving me a hard time for trying to upload too big of
 files (I told you I was a n00b to this stuff!) so I'm going to try some
 other things.

 At least this is better than cleaning the house. :P
