 Good day,

 A client complained links were not saving on update/publish. After
 watching their odd way of adding links, I determined it was indeed a bug.
 I recreated this bug on a clean install of wordpress with no plugins on
 two hosting environments and on: chrome, firefox, safari, and edge.

 This issue happens if a link is added in this manner:

 step 1 - click a blank area on the WYSIWYG editor

 step 2- click the insert/edit link button and select the gear from the
 link popup

 step 3 - fill out the link URL and text in the 'link settings' modal
 window and then save the link

 The link will appear as expected (blue and underlined), however, on
 update/publish the html will be stripped leaving only the text. If the
 text was added first, then highlighted, and the then the insert/edit link
 button is clicked the link will stay on publish/update of the post/page.

 It is an odd way of adding a link but I thought the glitch should be made
 aware of.
