 +1 for the person who suggested YAML was worth a look - it's arguably very
 expressive / human readable and '''supports comments''' (no one's brought
 this up), although maybe it's not as beginner friendly to write (no tabs
 etc.) and apparently it's slower to parse due to the larger feature set.

 YAML is being heavily used for config files these days (Symfony, all of
 Drupal 8…)
