 Well said, @DvanKooten

 I have a major problem with any of the software that I use at work that
 "calls home" (for lack of a better term).  I run WordPress Multisite on
 three different networks, two of which are completely closed. I can't have
 WordPress reaching to .com or .org and timing out. Please let me opt-in
 for stuff like this.
