Comment (by obenland):

 [attachment:36412.2.diff] attempts to accomplish what
 [attachment:36412.diff] does in the controller callback.

 It sets a min height/width to avoid images that are too small (unless that
 side is flexible) and allows to scale images down to specified sizes.
