Comment (by folletto):

 > It'd still be a generic, catchall kinda menu. I like the Dashboard icon
 being The Menu. It has meaning and a nice icon. A same, stable, consistent
 menu doesn't solve problems I have. It's just more stuff in a drawer that
 follows me around. wordpress.com has a persistent, branded menu on the bar
 that I've used quite a bit. I prefer the Home, Dash pairing.

 We're not creating a catchall.
 We're showing WordPress's admin menu.

 This idea solves both the initial issue (no more discussion on which items
 to include and which not, that gets incredibly simplified) and also
 creates a long-lost consistency between front-end and back-end. Plus
 solves all your flow concerns above.

 Plus, we are also solving all the flow issues you mentioned above, even
 better than what's currently in core on mobile:

 * Core = tap on dashboard icon → go to dashboard → tap then on menu → open
 sidebar menu → tap section
 * This ticket = tap on W → open menu → tap section

 So we're comparing 2 taps and 1 pageload vs 3 taps and 2 pageloads.

 So we get:

 * Less taps on mobile
 * Less taps on desktop
 * Unified navigation
 * Clear customizer action

 How can you say it's worse?
