 Thanks for your report, we're already tracking this issue in #19867.

 In the meantime, the [https://wordpress.org/plugins/co-authors-plus/ Co-
 Authors Plus] plugin might be helpful, it replaces the standard Author
 meta box with an autocomplete form.
