 I'm good with an automatic migration on theme update.  Or, you can build a
 simple update plugin for your theme users and have it in circulation for a
 few months.  That's up to you.  I'd be happy to toss around ideas with you
 about migrating your users to the correct method.

 I believe I mentioned getting one of the core release leads on board.  If
 you can get them to greenlight the ticket, it'll get more traction.  Heck,
 see if Sarah or Jeff can write a post about getting dev involvement for
 that ticket on WP Tavern.  If it's something you're really passionate
 about, go out and make it happen.
