 I'll also point out that "you might as well fork the project" is, from a
 technical level, '''precisely''' what this would allow for, but in a much
 less stable way. Better off keeping your own branch. Honestly! If this is
 what you want to do, maintain your own fork. It didn't come off as
 @wonderboymusic intended, but it's a valid suggestion.
