 Reported by @ryan, via Slack:

 > I had plugins.php idling with Jetpack showing an update available. Came
 back around after doing other stuff for a awhile, clicked Update Now, and
 noop. Click, click, nothing. I reloaded plugins.php, and Jetpack was
 already on the latest version. Speculation: Background update of the
 plugin behind its back caused Shiny Updates to noop? Didn't capture a
 vizrec, alas.
