 @jeremyfelt is absolutely right that the current My Sites menu impacts
 performance. When there's a large number of sites in the menu, especially
 with lots of mapped domains, I've had experiences with things slowing down
 big time. Have you considered getting the menu on demand with AJAX instead
 of loading the entire thing no matter what?

 I've also played with UI solutions for this on and off for a couple years
 now. I've considered things like this https://css-tricks.com/long-
 dropdowns-solution/ which could make the list useable regardless of the
 number of sites. A search tool could work well also.
