 Seriously.. how is this still a issue? Such a fundamental bug should have
 been fixed in the next release, yet we're 6 years on here.

 Huge +1 to get this included in the next release. It effects much more
 than just WordPress core now that CPTs and Custom Taxonomies are
 commonplace.
