 Maybe an idea to prevent issues like the above is to have the option for a
 separate image which is tailored for the plugin installer, and then the
 current ones are only used in the plugin directory?

 It would allow a lot more flexibility rather than trying to basically
 shoe-horn them in, as the above modal is 830px in width yet the banners
 used in the plugin directory are 772px so the banners won't look as sharp
 due to them being scaled up.
