 linushoppe, I included your gettext implementation into my new plugin
 [http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-performance-pack/ WP Performance Pack]
 and added you to the list of contributors. It can be used without any
 chances to core files by using override_load_textdomain.

 The plugin needs some more checks if native gettext can be used, but it
 works for me. Only changes I made to your implementation were adding
 checks for NOOP_Translations in merge_with and merge_originals_with.
