Hi - I don't fully understand all this thread but it describes my problem
 very well.

The quirk I have is when a parent page is set to draft / scheduled or
 private, the child pages:
 a) 'Lose' their parent from the dropdown admin page
 b) Start appearing in the root of the front site main menu (using the
 wp_page_menu function)

This is stopping me promoting WP as a serious contender for the 'go to'
 tool in our institution.

Is there a patch? Seems crazy that an established tool like WP does not
have something simply sorted like scheduling a parent (and therefore all
child pages) to appear in a menu.

 Any help would be appreciated.

 Alex Furr
