 Here are two different solutions to the problem:

 The first one is using the "official" jQuery l18n with a fallback to
 English if the l18n is not available. Of course the files could be served
 through WP instead of the jQuery CDN in our case.

 The other one is using WP internal l18n for most of the stuff.
