 I recently generated an export file from my blog, and found that the
 resulting XML file contained a problem character, a formfeed ("FF",
 U+000C).

 This character did not display at all in the actual post, but it was also
 not stripped or converted to something more standard such as a carriage
 return. I believe that one of those two things should be happening.

 The post in question is http://brannerchinese.wordpress.com/2012/05/30/a
 -step-in-my-chinese-education. The current revision of the post lacks the
 formfeed; the previous revision had the formfeed as its very last
 character.
