 I've thought about that many times over and the fact I keep coming back to
 is that we'd need to enqueue backbone on the frontend as well (for things
 like comments, etc). I'm ok enqueueing Backbone wherever needed as I use
 it for all of my applications but more often than not, most plugins aren't
 using backbone and so they wouldn't make use of it at all if it were
 enqueued. Also, it's not a heavy library so it's not a huge determining
 factor.

 We can extend things really easily when needed, I'm just trying to think
 of the most efficient way to make this available to everyone without a ton
 of dependencies.
