 Thanks ocean90,

 however I believe that is exactly my point. 95% of the users won't
 understand how to sort their content using the metadata, let alone playing
 with the functions.php file.

 Is there no way to increase usability here a little bit? To me, a heavy WP
 user for many year, it comes as no surprise that a (now semi-commercial)
 plugin like Nextgen is so popular. Wordpress is really far behind when it
 comes to media management, and your answer (no blame, I understand)
 confirms this.


 Again, I'd appreciate if you could share with the team if there is a way
 to increase the usability of media management in Wordpress, without having
 to make a lot of tweaks, rather "out of the box".
