 Indeed, I was able to reproduce this.

 It looks like the XHR is being fired properly, and handled by the
 appropriate function.

 I haven't had time to fully run this down yet, but it appears it may be
 due to the way the lock's time is changed
 [http://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/src/wp-admin/includes/ajax-
 actions.php#L1844 in ajax-actions.php].

 If noone else gets to this before me, I'll update with what else is
 discovered.
