Comment:

 Isn't it better to use the `type` parameter for that? But then, what do
 you do when there's a `limit` set? Show only the first few categories? I
 don't think it's very useful to have this. You can easily list you
 categories with `wp_list_categories()`with a link to your category
 archives or create your own query to list all your posts by category. Same
 for author archives.
