Comment:

 Adding a new category works exactly the same for me in 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4.

 I don't think we ever had slug autofill in that form.

 There's indeed no success message, but the new category should appear at
 the top of the list.

 does visibly re-fresh.

 This sounds like expected behaviour.

 Feel free to reopen with more information if there's still a problem.
