 I think the best approach is to account for this class value
 {{{attachment-*}}} in the IE stylesheet:
 http://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/wp-
 content/themes/twentytwelve/css/ie.css#L26 and set it to {{{width:
 auto;}}}.

 I'm working on a patch.
