 These two approaches were discussed quite a bit at the WCSF 2012 Developer
 Hack Day too. 'A' seems like the best approach, but as you say, is more
 complex.

 Marko's proof of concept in his GitHub repo has an element of the 'A'
 approach implemented too. Your Gist looks good.
