 I hope I haven't missed an existing ticket, because this seems pretty
 serious.

 Try visiting a site running Twenty Eleven (trunk) using IE8 (or even
 http://twentyelevendemo.wordpress.com/). IE8 doesn't know how to handle
 all those HTML5 tags (header/footer/nav etc). It just ignores them, and
 whatever content is inside them is rendered outside the tag, which warps
 all the styling. Stuff overflows all over the place. The entire footer is
 not visible at all.

 As much as I'd like to ditch IE8, there are a whole lot of people out
 there who use it.
