New description:

 I have registered a CPT that's not meant to be displayed on the front-end:

 {{{
         'public' => false,
         'show_ui' => true,
 }}}

 If I create such a post in the admin area, I still see the 'View post'
 link after saving and the 'Preview changes' button.

 Both send me to the same URL, which gives a 404:

 {{{?post_type_name=single-post-slug}}}
