Comment (by wlindley):

Users of Ubuntu 11.04, just for example, will not get Firefox 4 as part of
their Update. Ubuntu tells them they are running the latest version of
that generation of Firefox. This is going to be a real support problem
for system administrators, or web hosting providers, who will constantly
be pestered by hundreds of novice users looking for help upgrading their
systems -- when, quite possibly, they cannot or should not do it
 themselves.

You are putting the support burden not on the users but on the site
administrators. As a web host provider with fifty clients and hundreds of
users, this is going to cause a serious waste of my time. Please at least
give administrators a way to disable this "feature."
